Phyllis J. Carnes
Age 73, of Somerdale, passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2015. She was born in Clarksburg, WV, a daughter of the late Dale and Martha (Wickenhoffer) Cunningham, grew up in Canton, and had been a Somerdale resident since 1971. Phyllis was a 1960 graduate of Canton Lincoln High School. She retired in 2012 from Cable Mfg. Assembly in Bolivar, and previously worked at Spiegel Catalogue in Canton. Phyllis also worked in Real Estate in California for 12 years. She enjoyed doing Yoga, loved reading her Kindle and books, and watching movies. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, James W. "Bud" Carnes, on March 8, 2004. Survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Dawn Carnes, of Dellroy, and Barry and Cindy Carnes, of Tennessee; four daughters and sons-in-law, Jody and Steve Davala, of Magnolia, Sue and Mel Perdue, of East Sparta, Sheri and Rex Mitchell, of Canton South, and Kim and Randy Croston, of Canton; one brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Michele Cunningham, of Canton; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and her beloved dogs, Sully and Mike. Services will be held Sat. at 11 a.m. in the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia. Friends may call Sat. 10-11 a.m. before the service. Condolences may be sent to: www.gordonfuneralhomes.com
