Peter J. Vasil

Age 92, of Canton, passed away Sat., March 6, 2021.  He was born Sept. 21, 1928 in Canton, a son of the late Peter J. Vasil and Erna (Raderchak) Mackey and Harold Mackey, and was a life resident.   He retired in 1996 from Stark Ready Mix, after 52 years' service, where he started as a truck driver, and retired as Manager.  Peter's favorite pastime was spending time on his boat for 52 years at Cedar Point where he had many friends.  He was a charter member of Point Yacht Club, and had served as Second Commodore.  Peter was an over 50 year member of Calvary Presbyterian Church.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Vasil.  Peter is survived by his wife, Joyce Vasil, with whom he celebrated their 71st Wedding Anniversary on October 29th, three children, Cheryl (Michael) Christiansen, David (Myrna) Vasil, and Richard (Sue) Vasil, four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, Christine (Jesse) Dolan, and their children, Julia, Joshua, Leah, and Elizabeth, Rachel (Joe) Rankin, and their children, Caleb and Lauren, Craig (Katie) Vasil and their children, Rowan, Harper, and Fallon, and Ryan (Shelby) Christiansen, a sister, Suzanna Anastis, and two nieces.  Due to Covid-19 a Memorial Service will be held at a later date and interment will be in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens.  Condolences may be sent to: www.gordonfuneralhomes.com
