PAULA J. LIGHTBODY,
Paula Lightbody, 56, passed away Apr. 24, 2009 after a long, courageous battle with cancer while surrounded by a large, loving family that included her caretakers she dearly loved from Aultman Hopsital. Born on March 18, 1953 and a life-long resident of Canton, Paula enjoyed sharing life and love with her family, friends and co-workers. She is preceded in death by her mother Twila L. Reed, father John G. Lightbody, and husband Robert Sieman. She is survived by her sisters Rita (Dick) Geissinger, Gail (Rick) Hahn, Rebecca (Sam) DeSantis, and Janice (Joe) Schott, brothers David (Pat) Thewes, Gilbert (Linda) Thewes, and Jack (Sandy) Lightbody, numerous nieces and nephews, and her loving companion and center of support Frank DiGiacomo. Paula was known by all as a kind-hearted, charismatic, unique woman who fostered a love for life that was contagious and felt by all who knew her. An avid participant in Big Brothers-Big Sisters, the American Cancer Society, and the Canton Lincoln Alumni Association, Paula was able to spread her generosity and caring heart to many. She felt much joy and took pride in her work but remained modest in her dedication to the community and others in need. Paula enjoyed all the opportunities life had to offer and was able to travel to Rome, Florence, and Paris, and she credited swimming with dolphins in Mexico as one of her most significant life experiences. Paula savored every drop of life, whether it was meeting a friend for a movie or looking over the city of Paris from the top of the Eiffel Tower. Her passion for life and love for her family has created memories to last a lifetime, and her spirit, humor, and sense of adventure will be forever etched on our hearts. For those who wish to honor Paula's memory, donations are encouraged for Aultman Hospice, 2821 Woodlawn Ave. NW, Canton OH, 44708, or the Canton Lincoln Alumni Scholarship Fund, PO Box 20192, Canton OH 44701, in lieu of flowers.
