Paul "Curly" Endlich
Age 92, of East Sparta, passed away Wed., April 15, 2015, at his son's home in Sandyville. He was born in Stonecreek, OH a son of the late Gilbert and Augusta (Helmrich) Endlich, and had been an East Sparta resident 55 years, previously Canton. Paul retired in 1984 from The Timken Co., after 42 years service, where he was a machinist, and also was a self-employed farmer. He attended St. James Catholic Church, was a member of the Farm Bureau, enjoyed archery, and was a member of the East Sparta Bow Hunters Club. He made bows and arrows which his daughter sold at the Yankee Peddler, Great Trail and Algonquin Festivals. He would do anything to help someone, friends or family, and all they would have to do was call Paul and he would be there to donate his time. Before he went to the Army, Paul and his brother, Walter, were renowned boxers in Tuscarawas County. He served in the U. S. Army during WW II and and while waiting in England before going to France, he boxed and was the Light-Middleweight Champion of the Army. He participated in the invasion of Normandy on D-Day. He and his brother went on the Honor Flight to Washington D.C. in 2012. He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Doris A. Endlich, on Jan. 26, 1996. Survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Lana and David Paulette, of Malvern; his son, James P. Endlich, of Sandyville; his brother, Walter Endlich, of Newcomerstown, OH; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, Clint (Alicia) Paulette, and their children, Anthony, Aliana, and Adrianna, Audra (Kevin) Dice and their children, Madison and Tyler, and Falon (John) Jones, and their children, Jaxon and Lillian, who took care of grandpa for 10 months in their home, and he and they really enjoyed their time together. Services will be held Monday at 12 Noon in the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia with Fr. Joseph Zamary officiating. Interment will be in Bethlehem Cemetery in Malvern where full Military Honors will be held by Malvern American Legion Post #375. Friends may call Monday 10 a.m.-12 Noon before the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Paul's memory may be made to St. James Catholic Church, 400 W. Lisbon St., Waynesburg, OH 44688.
