Patricia D. Schoeppner
Age 64, of Waynesburg, passed away Monday, Jan. 11, 2016, in Aultman Compassionate Care, after a courageous battle with ALS. She was born in Akron, a daughter of Eva (LaPlante) Geiger, of Akron, and the late Adam Geiger, and was a resident of the Sandy Valley area since 1975. Patty was a 1971 graduate of Akron Ellet High School. She was a former 17 ½ year employee of Sam's Club, where she was a food demonstrator. Patty was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Morges. She was an avid gardener and loved her 30 blueberry bushes, and she excelled at canning. She was preceded in death by a sister, Rosemary Shoemaker. Surviving besides her mother is her husband, Richard J. Schoepper, with whom she celebrated their 40th Wedding Anniversary on Sept. 13th; one daughter, Jackie Schoeppner, of Magnolia; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ryan and Dannyelle Schoeppner, of Malvern, and Kevin Schoeppner, of Waynesburg; seven grandchildren, Kayla, Kelsey, and Ryan Schoeppner, Jacob, Janae, and Jared Winn, and Kolton Schoeppner; five sisters and four brothers-in-law, Joan Geiger, of Leesburg, FL, Eva and Jerry Holmes, of Kansas City, MO, Fran and Jeff Vivian, of Eldorado Hills, CA, Michelle and Jim Kapity, of Atwater, OH, and Vicky and Kenny Buckwalter, of Akron; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Tom and Penny Geiger, of Page, AZ Matt Geiger, of Peru, IN, and Marty Geiger, of Evergreen CO; also numerous nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 10 a.m. in St. James Catholic Church with Fr. Joseph Zamary as Celebrant. Interment in St. Mary's Church Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday 2-5 p.m. at the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Patty's memory may be made to the ALS Association, Northern Ohio Chapter, 6155 Rockside Rd., Suite 403, Independence, OH 44131, or Aultman Hospice, 2821 Woodlawn Ave. NW, Canton, OH 44708.
