Olive Ann Smith
Age 99, of Magnolia, passed away Friday, April 17, 2015, in Altercare of Nobles Pond. She was born in Magnolia, a daughter of the late Samuel and Cora (Kemp) James, and was a life resident. Olive Ann was a 1933 graduate of Magnolia High School, and a 1937 graduate of Mount Union College, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education, and where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She had taught two years at Minerva High School. She was a member of Magnolia United Methodist Church and Chapter AW of the PEO Sisterhood. Preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Richard P. Smith, on Feb. 15, 1993, and five brothers, Cecil, Dwight, Warren, Vaughn, and Roland James. Survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and John Spitler, of Magnolia, (Kathy and Thorsten Herd, David Spitler and his children, Samantha Kaleigh, and Curtis) and two sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Missy Smith, of Canton, (Kelly Stickney and her children, Kate and Will, Mike and Monica Smith and their sons, Carson, Harry, and Grayson, Chris and Leslie Smith and their children, Camille, Sophie, and Eli), and Jim and Connie (Argento) Smith, of Magnolia (Ian Richard Smith and his fiancée Erika Thomas, Mackenzie Smith, and James Argento Smith). Services will be held Sat., April 25, 2015, at 1 p.m. in Magnolia United Methodist Church with Pastor Steven M. Smith officiating. Interment in Magnolia Cemetery. Friends may call 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. before the service on Sat. at the church. The family would also like to acknowledge the care givers at Altercare of Nobles Pond and Mercy Hospice.
