Norma Jean Oliver

age 87, of Mineral City, passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2023.  She was born July 6, 1936 in Mineral City, a daughter of the late Ernest and Irene (Ley) Schafer, and was a life resident. She retired from Tusky Valley Local Schools as a cook and custodian at Mineral City and New Cumberland Elementary Schools. Norma Jean was a member of Mineral City Church of The Nazarene, the Mineral City Senior Center, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Mineral City Fire Dept., and the Helping Hand Club.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Paul E. "Ollie" Oliver, on April 4, 1992, and two brothers, Bob and Jerry Schafer. Norma Jean is survived by four sons, James (Linda) Oliver, Joseph (Nan) Oliver, Jack (Tonya) Oliver, and Jeffrey Oliver; her sister, Marlene (Murvel) Burton; 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. in the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia with Rev. Mark Gross officiating.  Friends may call Friday 11-1 p.m. before the service. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Sandyville. Condolences may be sent to: www.gordonfuneralhomes.com
