It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Nicholas Preston Cappillo, who peacefully left this world on Wednesday August 12th, 2026 at the tender age of 25. Born on January 23rd, 2001, in Canton, Ohio, Nicholas spent his final moments surrounded by the love and comfort of his friends and family, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Nicholas was a beloved son to Angela and Jerome Cappillo, and a cherished brother to Ben, Jaden (Kali), and Savannah Cappillo. His warmth and kindness touched the lives of many, including his grandparents, Susan and John Cheese of Akron, Benny and Linda Cappillo of East Sparta, and his Aunts and Uncles, Angela and Derek Murphy, Chad and Julie Arbogast, and many other family members.
Nicholas was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Daniel Preston Smith, his Aunt Jennifer Hooper, and Aunt Rhonda Dering, whose spirit and legacy lived on in him.
A proud graduate of Sandy Valley High School's class of 2019, Nicholas was a dedicated member of the Sandy Valley Eagles and a spirited participant in cross country and track. His athleticism was matched by his creativity and passion, as he was an avid gamer and artist who found joy and solace in his artistic pursuits. Nicholas's professional life was centered around his role as a bartender at the Sandy Valley Eagles, where he was known for his remarkable ability to brighten the days of those around him with his infectious smile and unwavering positivity.
Nicholas shared his life with many dear friends, including Michael Lewton, Issac Knight, Kevin McKinney, and Ryan Mosberger. Along with countless others whose lives he touched.
His love also extended to his cherished pets, Videl and Cheesecake, among others, who brought him endless joy and companionship.
Nicholas will be remembered for his big heart, his resilience, and his ability to light up any room he entered. Though his time with us was far too short, the impact of his life will be felt for years to come. Nicholas's legacy is one of love, laughter, and an unyielding spirit that continues to inspire those who knew him.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday August 18th from 4 PM until 8 PM at Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home located at 266 N. Main St. in Magnolia, Ohio, and funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday August 19th at 2pm. We will be having a celebration of life immediately following the graveside service at the Sandy Valley Eagles, located at 4296 Crossroads Rd SE.
