Obituary

NELLIE A. CHURILLA, Age 80, of Waynesburg, passed away Fri. morning in the Laurels of Canton. Born in Magnolia, a daughter of the late Jack and Anna D'Agostino Tirabassi, she had been a life resident of Waynesburg. Nellie was employed for 35 years at the family Tirabassi Grocery Store which was later Waynesburg Foods and also managed West End Pizza in Waynesburg for two years. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church, the Auxiliary of the Sandy Valley American Legion Post #432, member and past President of the Auxiliary of the American-Italian Club, and Chairperson of the 1956 Cancer Crusade in Waynesburg. Nellie enjoyed her Wed. afternoon Ladies Luncheon Club very much. Preceded in death by her husband, Steve Churilla, on Jan. 31, 2002, her step-father, Jim Mastrione, her step-sister, Betty DiDente, her sister-in-law, Arlene Tirabassi and her cousin, Ezio Marcantonio. Survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Carol Churilla, of New Philadelphia, Jon and JoAnn Churilla, and Michael "Pete" and Carrie Churilla, all of Waynesburg; five grandchildren, Reece, of Whipple, OH, Hannah and Katherine, of New Philadelphia, and Nicole and Anthony, of Waynesburg; two sisters, two sisters and one brother-in-law, Mary Jane and James Markino, of Dover, and Helen Farber, of Waynesburg; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Jack "Tony" Tirabassi, of Waynesburg, Palmer "Pete" and Teresa Tirabassi, ofCanfield, and James and Dianne Mastrione, of Dover; Cousin, Pina Marcantonio, of Louisville; special nephew, Denny DiDente, of Waynesburg; four special friends, Doris Garster, Bonnie Soper, Helen DeChiara and Rhoda Garcia. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Mike and Nikki Herstine, Angela Oberster and Amanda Glaser for the special care they showed to Nellie. Her greatest passion was her love of her heritage of Italian song and dance and her Catholic faith. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tues. at 10 a.m. in St. James Catholic Church in Waynesburg. Interment in Sandy Valley Cemetery. Friends may call Mon. from 5-8 p.m. in the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia.
