Neal W. Slutz
Age 70, of East Sparta, passed away Sat. evening in Hennis Care Centre in Bolivar. He was born in Magnolia, a son of the late John and Marcele Johnson Slutz, and was a life resident of this area. Neal was a member of the 1957 class of Sandy Valley High School. He established JMW Auto Service in Mineral City in 1982, and was retired from JMW Trucking in Canton. He previously had been a car salesman and had worked at the Timken Co. for 11 years. Neal was a member of Caldwell Lodge #330, F. & A.M. in Bolivar. He enjoyed going to car shows and showing his 1955 Ford that won several trophies. He also loved boating. Preceded in death by a sister and brother, Carolyn Marengere and Jan Slutz. Survived by his wife, Marjorie E. Slutz, with whom he celebrated their 47th Wedding Anniversary on Nov. 24, 2009; one daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and Don Bates, Jr., of Canton; three sons and daughters-in-law, John and Janet Slutz, of East Sparta, Michael and Kathy Slutz and Wes and Megan Slutz, all of Bolivar; one sister, Brenda Lyon, of Canton; 11 grandchildren, Tiffany, Don, Derek, Jared, Mike, Tucker, Alexis, Jack, Jacob, Zack, and Luke. Services will be conducted Wed. at 11 a.m. in the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia with Hospice Chaplain Jim Scalf officiating. Interment in Magnolia Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Neal's memory may be made to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 W. Third St., Dover, OH 44622. His family wishes to express their appreciation to Hennis Care Centre in Bolivar and Hospice of Tuwcarawas County for the wonderful care and love they gave to Neal during his illness.
