Nancy J. Kennedy
Age 65, of Mineral City, passed away Sat., April 4, 2015, in Mercy Medical Center. She was born in Cincinnati, OH, a daughter of Rita (Weaver) Sulcer, of Columbus, and the late James Sulcer, and had resided in this area after her marriage and on the Kennedy family farm near Mineral City since 1990 when she and her husband bought the farm. Nancy was a 1968 graduate of Wilmington, OH High School and a 1972 graduate of Stephens College in Columbia, MO with a B.A. in Arts and also had a Master's Degree in Education from Ashland College. She has been a teacher at Revere Local Schools for 30 years where she taught Middle School Art and was volleyball coach for 14 years, and her last team was undefeated. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Waynesburg. Nancy and Dave raised Hereford Cattle and Arabian Horses all the years they lived on the family farm and she and her husband enjoyed a euchre club with good friends for almost 35 years. She was preceded in death by a son, Scott Kennedy, in 2010. Surviving besides her mother is her husband of 44 years, David K. Kennedy; two daughters and sons-in-law, Heather and Bill Weirich, of Jessup, MD, and Laura and Steve Lockwood, of Lansdale, PA; one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Jennifer Kennedy, of Canton; one sister and brother-in-law, Vicky and Martin Hugo, of Columbus; eight grandchildren and one great-grandson; and also a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dan and Char Kennedy, of Dover. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia with Fr. Joseph Zamary officiating. Interment will be in German Cemetery in Mineral City.
