MILDRED I. MASON,
Age 70, of Canton, passed away Sun. afternoon. Born in Lawrence Co., TN, a daughter of the late Leon and Eva Brawner Oxford, she had been a Canton resident over 50 years. Mildred was a 1958 graduate of McKinley High School, and retired from Miller Sales where she worked in party and medical rental and sales. Previously she had worked at the Timken Co., and also was a Red Cross volunteer for 12 years at Aultman Hospital. Mildred was a member of Northwest Church of Christ, and previously was a longtime member of Market Ave. Church of Christ where she taught children's Bible classes. Preceded in death by her husband, Alton S. Mason, on Dec. 26, 1994, and her brother-in-law, David Whitmeyer. Survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Beth and James Truex, of Westland, MI; one son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Tracey Mason, of Vienna, WV; four grandchildren, Madeline, Molly, and Maggie Mason, and Noah Truex; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Evelyn Whitmeyer, and Margaret and Virgil Anderson, all of Canton, and Ann Byington, of Akron; one brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Kim Oxford, of Massillon; and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Services will be held Thur. at 11 a.m. in Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home with Keith L. Kull officiating. Interment in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call Wed. from 5-8 p.m. and Thur., one hour before the service, from 10-11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mildred's memory may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd St., New York, NY, 10016, or the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 26 Broadway, 14th Floor, New York, NY, 10004.
