Michael R. Cooney

Age 58, of Waynesburg, passed away Tuesday, July 4, 2023.  He was born June 23, 1965 in Canton, a son of the late George J. and Sheryl P. (DeLong) Cooney, Jr., and was a life resident of the Sandy Valley area. Mike was a 1983 graduate of Sandy Valley High School.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Robert Cross, sister-in-law, Ann Sanders, brother-in-law, Eddie Moczek, and two nephews, Jason and Joshua Worrell. His is survived by his wife, Lisa Cooney, with whom he would have celebrated their 40th Wedding Anniversary on Nov. 15th this year; one daughter, Kelly (Tim) Brown; his three grandchildren, Jaiyden Kanney (and her fiance', Zach Stout), Maiyson Cooney and Briar Hill; two sisters, Ann (Ben) Ellington and Mona (Jeffrey) Essig; Mike's seven nieces and nephews and three great-nieces and great-nephews, John Essig, Joe (Valerie) Essig, and their children, Roman and Londyn, Brooke Beers, and her son, Colson, Noah Dettweiler, Ben Ellington II, Blake Ellington, and Lucas Ellington; Lisa's five nieces and nephews, Jeremy Sanders, Shawn Sanders, Harley Gibson, Heather Moczek and Christina Moczek; his mother-in-law Phyllis Cross; a sister-in-law, Linda (Tyson) Fisher, and two brothers-in-law, Daniel (Dorothy) Davis and Ed Sanders; also special friends, Terry Mayle and family, and Leslie Passwaters and Travis Bowling and family.
