Mary Mills

Age 81, of East Sparta, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2016.  She was born in Pecks Run, WV, a daughter of the late Joseph and Teresa (Pierce) Stavano, came to Ohio and Carrollton in 1939, and then to East Sparta in 1959.  She retired in 2000 from Rubbermaid.  Mary enjoyed putting on a party and feast, cooking, canning, and planting potatoes.  She grew straw flowers to use in arrangements.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Joy L. Mills, Jr., on Feb. 15, 2012, her twin sister, Janey Reader, three brothers, Max, Frank, and Emil Stavano.  Survived by a step-son, and daughter-in-law, Russell and Susan Mills; one sister, Frances Leichtamer; nieces, Karen (Ed) Dunn and Doris Leichtamer, and a great-niece, Janine Dunn; also her good friends, Dee Dee and May Moreno, and Bruce and Katie Hartzell, and her beloved dog, Helen.  A Memorial Service will be held Sat. at 1 p.m. in the East Sparta Christian Church with Andrew Bailey officiating.  Private interment will be in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery with her husband.  There are no calling hours.  The Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia is in charge of arrangements.  Condolences may be sent to: www.gordonfuneralhome.com
