Mary Alice Lewis

Age 95, of Waynesburg, passed away Friday, Nov. 26, 2021.  She was born Oct. 11, 1926 in Claysville, PA, a daughter of the late Ralph and Elizabeth (Morrow) Forney, and had been a Waynesburg resident since 1948.  Mary Alice was a 1944 graduate of East Washington, PA High School.

She was an accomplished pianist.  Mary Alice and her husband, Bill, were nursing home ministers for Hennis Care Centre and Park Village in Dover, and Mary Alice hosted a prayer meeting in her home for over fifty years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, William "Bill" Lewis, on Nov. 11, 2015.  Mary Alice is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca Huthmacher-Pitts, and Richard Pitts, two sons, William and Catherine Lewis, and Richard & Carol Lewis, nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in Sandy Valley Cemetery with her son, Rev. William F. Lewis officiating.  There will be no visitation.  Interment will be in Sandy Valley Cemetery.  Condolences may be sent to: www.gordonfuneralhomes.com
