Mary E. Cooper

Age 95, of East Sparta, passed away Sunday, Dec. 17, 2023.  She was born Feb. 19, 1928 in Carroll County, OH, a daughter of the late Junius and Grace (Capper) Yealey, and had been an East Sparta resident since 1957.  Mary was a 1946 graduate of Carrollton High School.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Walter C. Cooper, on Nov. 11, 1997, a step-son, Gary Cooper, on May 9, 2009, a niece and nephew, Roseanne Reed and Randy Arbogast.  Mary is survived by a sister, Martha King, one nephew and four nieces, Vic (Robin) Arbogast, Lilly Arbogast, Marlene Habony, Jackie (Bill) Williams, and Charlene Harron; many great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends.

A graveside service will be held Friday at 1p.m. in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Petersburg, OH.  There will be no calling hours.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mary's memory may be made to the East Sparta Volunteer Fire Dept., East Sparta, OH 44626.  Condolences may be sent to: www.gordonfuneralhomes.com
