Martin R. Burchell

Age 56, of Sandyville, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2015, in his parents home surrounded by his loving family, after a year long fight against cancer.  He was born in Natrona Heights, PA, a son of Edwin and Betty (Choltco) Burchell, of Sandyville, resided in Lisbon, OH 30 years, and the past year in Sandyville.  Marty was a 1977 graduate of Sandy Valley High School.  He had been a 28 year employee of the Sheffield Steel Co. in Macedonia, where he was a slitter operator.  For the past ten years he has been a self-employed maintenance man.  Marty was a member of the Gold Prospectors of America and enjoyed prospecting for gold from coast to coast.  Besides his parents he is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Leslie and Dave Hicks, of Canfield, Courtney and Matthew Walker, of Salem, and Emily (Josh Kelm) of Alliance; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Staff Sgt. Dana and Patricia Burchell, of Sandyville, and Staff Sgt. Brandon Burchell, of Ft. Drumm, NY; 11 grandchildren and one soon to be born grandson; one sister and brother-in-law, Robin and Shawn O'Neill, of Wayneburg; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Barry and Deb Burchell, of North Carolina, Eddie and Marylou Burchell, of Massillon, Doug Burchell, of Sandyville, Richard Burchell, of Waynesburg, a foster brother, Kevin Carpenter, and a special friend, Joy Spack.  Services will be held Friday at 3 p.m. in the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia with Rev. David Naus officiating.  Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Sandyville.  Friends may call Friday 1-3 p.m. before the service.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Martin's memory may be made to the family to help defray expenses.  Condolences may be sent to: www.gordonfuneralhomes.com
