Obituary

Martha "Marti" Rogers

Age 57, of Waynesburg, passed away Sat., August 9, 2014, from injuries sustained in an auto accident on Route 43 south of Waco.  She was born in Old Fort, OH, a daughter of the late Mervin and Alberta (Tuttle) Ransom, and resided in Waynesburg 14 years, previously Canton.  Marti was a 1974 graduate of Clyde High School in Clyde, OH, and a 1978 graduate of Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Music Education.  She received her Master's Degree in Music Education from the University of Akron.  She was a music teacher at Gorrell Elementary School in the Massillon City School District.  Marti was a member of East Sparta Christian Church, where she was very active, and the VOCI Community Choir.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Stafford "Stan" Rogers, on May 11, 2013.  Survived by her son, Jacob B. R. Rogers, of the home; a step-son, Eric (April) Rogers, of Bowerston, OH; one sister and brother-in-law, Jane Ransom and Haig Donabedian, of Toledo, OH;  two brothers, Curt Ransom, of Sacramento, CA, and Scott (Kathy) Ransom, of Boise, ID; and a brother-in-law and his wife, Lowell and Linda Rogers, of Canton South.  A Memorial Service will be held Wed. at 8 p.m. in East Sparta Christian Church with Rev. Andrew Bailey officiating.  Friends may call at the church Wed. 5-8 p.m. before the service.  The Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia is in charge of arrangements.  Condolences may be sent to: www.gordonfuneralhomes.com
