Martha M. Burkhart
Age 88, of Morges, passed away suddenly Thursday evening in her home. She was born in Wooster, OH, a daughter of the late Michael and Elizabeth (Sheaffer) Crock, and had been a Morges resident 58 years. Martha was a 1942 graduate of Wooster High School, and had worked at Harrison Paint in Wooster in her early years. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Morges. Preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, longtime dairy farmer, William J. Burkhart, Sr., on June 13, 2012; and four sisters, Helen Spitler, Clara Goodrich, Alice Ladd, and Esther Merillat. Survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Chris Thompson; her son and daughter-in-law, William Jr. and Nancy (Papai) Burkhart, all of Morges; seven grandchildren, Christina Proudfoot and her fiance, Jason Lee, Brian Thompson, Anne (Lee) Evans, Erika (Dustin) Shockey, Matthew, Kathryn, and Nathan Burkhart; eight grandchildren; and one brother and sister-in-law, Francis and Gladys Crock, of Wooster. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, June 25, 2012, at 12 Noon in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Morges with Fr. Anthony Batt as Celebrant. Interment in St. Mary's Church Cemetery. Friends may call Monday 11 a.m.-12 Noon in St. Mary's Catholic Church before the Mass. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. & Mrs. Burkhart's memory may be made to the St. Mary's Bell Fund. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the Visiting Angels for the love and care they gave to Martha. The Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia is in charge of arrangements.
