Obituary

MARTHA JEAN BELL, Age 80, passed away peacefully in her sleep Sat. morning at the home of her daughter where she had resided for the past year. Born in Canton, a daughter of the late Elden and Lucy Mallett Smith, she had been a life resident of Canton. Martha had been employed at the Canton South Bowlarama where she was a desk clerk and also worked at the snack bar. She was an avid golfer, a life-long member of First Church of the Resurrection and a member of Canton Eagles Aerie #2380. Preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, William Riley Bell, on Oct. 28, 2010, her brother, Ronald Evert Smith and her granddaughter, Nicole Cernik. Survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Stacey and Ron Metzger, of Minerva, Denise and Dale Sprout, of East Sparta, and Valle Jo and Jake Cernik, of Canton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Elden and Myra Bell, of Minerva, and Cary and Jeanie Bell, of Wausau, WI; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Janet Bell, of Canton, and Joyce and Rich Venables, of Carrollton; and eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and one great-great grandson. A Memorial Service will be held Sat. at 1 p.m. at First Church of the Resurrection with Pastor Bruce Mont officiating. Friends may call one hour before the service, from 12-1 p.m., in the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Martha's memory may be made to First Church of the Resurrection, 901 Tuscarawas St. E., Canton, OH 44707, or the charity of your choice.
