Marla Kay (Edwards) Scott,
lifelong resident of Mineral City, passed away on November 1, 2026, at the age of 58 following a brief period of declining health. Born on May 21, 1968, Marla was the only daughter of Ronald Edwards and Dorothy (Lindsay) Edwards, both of Mineral City.
Marla's life was a tapestry woven with love, family, and faith. A proud graduate of Tuscarawas Valley High School's class of 1986, she made her mark as an active participant in the band, choir, and as a dedicated statistician for various sports. Her passion for music and her beautiful singing voice were gifts she shared generously with those around her.
Devoted to her family, Marla's greatest joy came from being a homemaker. She took immense pride in raising her daughter and most recently found fulfillment in helping care for her honorary grandchildren, Eileen, Walter, and Alyssa. Her home was always filled with laughter, love, and good food, most notably her ABC pancakes and Lindsay Noodles, both recipes that will live on.
Marla's interests painted a picture of a woman who cherished life's simple pleasures. She delighted in solving crossword and word search puzzles and had an affinity for crime and medical dramas. Her love of thrift shopping was only rivaled by her deep devotion to her faith, as she was known by all for her unwavering love of Jesus.
Marla was predeceased by her brothers, Michael, and Mark Edwards, as well as her paternal grandparents, Dallas and Irene Edwards, her maternal grandparents, Alexander and Sarah Lindsay, and her cousin, Sherrie Nottingham Pruett, who was more like a sister to her. Her memory will forever be cherished by her surviving family, including her beloved parents; her brothers, Matt (April) Edwards of Mineral City and Marvin Edwards of Sherrodsville; her devoted daughter, Nicole (Charles) Bihlman, and her feline companion, Smokey.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Akron General and Ohio Hospice for the compassionate care they provided Marla in her final days, ensuring comfort and dignity surrounded her. In honor of Marla's life and her deep connection to her community, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Truman House in New Philadelphia.
Marla Kay Scott's legacy of love, faith, and kindness will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her spirit lives on in the hearts of her family and friends, a testament to a life well-lived and a soul deeply cherished.
