Marilyn A. Rugani,

age 95, of Waynesburg, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2026. She was born June 22, 1931, in Alliance, a daughter of the late Thorl and Mildred (Weaver) Betz. Marilyn was a 1949 graduate of Waynesburg High School and was a member of Magnolia Methodist Church where she taught children’s Sunday School for over 20 years and enjoyed singing in the choir.

Family and friends were the heart of Marilyn’s life. She poured her energy, time, and love into the people around her, and her home was always a welcome place. Known for her kindness, Marilyn had a gift for making others feel valued and cared for. While taking care of her family was Marilyn’s primary role, she also was on the staff of her husband’s orthodontic practice and founded, along with her husband, Cibo’s restaurant in Waynesburg.

In her younger years, Marilyn served in leadership roles with the Stark County Women’s Club and was an active member of the Stark County Dental Auxiliary. She enjoyed community involvement and believed in supporting local organizations. A loyal Ohio State Buckeyes fan, Marilyn attended home football games well into her 80s and loved wearing her Ohio State gear on game days.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Herman Rugani, Jr.; one sister, Doris Garster; and one brother, Edgar Betz. She is survived by two daughters, Karen Loy and Susan (Matthew) Craig; one son, Greg (Jackie) Rugani; one sister, Jane Hockenberry; two brothers, Bob Betz and Dick (Donna) Betz; three sisters -in law, Jackie Betz, Joanne DeChellis, and Mary Jane Welker; nine grandchildren-Alex (Leah) Loy, Meredith (Ben) Stuckey, Logan Craig, Bryant Craig, Evanne Rugani, Ryan Rugani, Nick (Kellie) Handorf, Maria (Fred) Howard, and Molly (Tyler) Hoyle; and eight great grandchildren.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Sanctuary Grande and CorsoCare Hospice for the exceptional care of Marilyn during her final years.

Services will be held Tuesday, August 11 at 11 a.m. in Magnolia Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Sandy Valley Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home, and Tuesday from 10-11 a.m. at the church.
