Margaret L. Fortney
Age 93, of Canton, passed away Friday afternoon in her home. She was born in Cambridge, OH, a daughter of the late Daniel and Leota Gardner Conrath, and had been a Canton resident since 1946. Margaret was one of the Rosie the Riviters during World War II and worked at Canton Stamping 71/2 years. She played the piano and organ at the former Church of The Brethren on Maple Ave. for 30 years, and had been a member of the Ladies of The Moose Lodge #232, and Mended Hearts Chapter #19. Margaret was an avid bowler. Preceded in death by her husband, George M. Fortney, on May 26, 1981, three sisters and four brothers, Virginia Conrath, Pauline Kimble, Helen Henderson, Omer, Leroy, Kenneth, and Harold Conrath. Survived by her best friends and caretakers, Dorothy and Gene Guidone, of Canton; one niece and three nephews, Jeanette Baxter, Donald Jirles, Gary Kimble, and Jeff Henderson; three step-children, Paul Fortney, Karen Hamilton, and Joy (Jim) Geib. Services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home with Rev. Jeffrey L. Shultz officiating. Interment in Warstler Cemetery. Friends may call one hour before the service on Tuesday from 12-1 p.m.
