Luella J. Michel Age 81, of Waynesburg, passed away Tuesday evening in her residence surrounded by her family after a 12 month battle with ovarian cancer. She was born in Pontiac, MI, a daughter of the late Chester and Blanche Martin Roth, and had been a Waynesburg resident all her life. Luella was a 1945 graduate of Waynesburg High School, where she was Co-Valedictorian of her class. She retired in 1991 from Sypolt Chevrolet in Louisville, after 14 years service, where she was a title clerk in the office. Luella was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Waynesburg, and a 50 year member of Magnolia Grange, which she had served as secretary since 1966. She also was a member of the Canton Weavers & Spinners Guild, and was very active in weaving rugs since 1963. Preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Victor L. Michel, on May 16, 2000, and a brother and sister, Richard Roth and Peggy Hanna. Survived by six daughters and sons-in-law, Victoria and William Hicks, of Sandyville, Monica and Church Taylor, of North Canton, Marianne and Denny Eick, of Waynesburg, Susan and Peter Baylies, of North Andover, MA, Lora and Timothy Frisone, of Waynesburg, and Peggy and Thomas Stone, of Uniontown; two sons and a daughter-in-law, William and Jane Michel and Thomas Michel and his companion, Linda Petit, all of Waynesburg; one brother and sister-in-law, William and Gennie Roth, of Waynesburg; 15 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Sat. at 10 a.m. in St. James Catholic Church with Fr. Joseph Zamary as Celebrant. Interment in Sandy Valley Cemetery.
