Lucy C. Ledford

Age 89, of Canton, passed away Friday evening January 29, 2021 at The Inn at Whitewood Village of North Canton. She was born September 10, 1931 in Canton, the daughter of the late Michael and Agnes (Yacono) Magnacca. Lucy was a 1949 graduate of Timken Vocational High School and a lifelong, faithful member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church.  After high school, she worked for Nationwide Insurance until her mother became ill. Lucy stepped into the role of fulltime caregiver until her mother passed, after which Lucy started a new career at The Canton Repository where she retired with 20 years of service. Lucy was dedicated to her family and also showed her care and compassion to neighbors, friends and co-workers.  She especially enjoyed time with her grandchildren and loved to spoil them with shopping trips to the mall and generous gifts. She was a good friend to many and gave unselfishly to those in need.  She loved to cook great Italian food (She made the best meatballs and pizzelles!) and take care of her home.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband James E. Ledford, Sr.; one brother and two sisters. She is survived by two sons, James (Carol) Ledford, Jr., and Stephen (Robin) Ledford; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, Rachel (Andrew) Showers, and James M. Ledford; Aaron (Jessica) Ledford, and their son, Elliott, Adam (Samantha) Ledford, and their daughters, Delainey, Audrey, and Cora.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wed. at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Canton with Fr. Edward Beneleit as Celebrant.
