Lucille M. (Garlock) Townsend Age 86, a resident of the Canton Christian Home, passed away there Sat. morning. She was born in New Philadelphia, OH, and had been a Canton resident most of her life. Lucille and her first husband, Russell Garlock, owned and operated Garlock & Guest for over 20 years, and then she was a Sales Associate at Higbee's for several years, retiring in 1985. She was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church for over 50 years and also was involved in the Hunger Task Force and the Presbyterian Women of the church. Lucille did volunteer work for Information & Referral and also FISH. Preceded in death by her father, A. E. Packer, her mother, Julia Carpenter Packer Rance, her husbands, Russell Garlock, on June 27, 1982, and Robert Townsend, on Oct. 24, 1988, and two brothers, Cyril and Charles Packer. Survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Betty Gloss, of Ithaca, NY, and Ellen and Glenn Himebaugh, of Murfreesboro, TN; one son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Peg Garlock, of North Canton; five grandsons, Bruce (Amy) Himebaugh, Michael Gloss, Brian Himebaugh, David Gloss, and Dr. Adam Garlock; three great-grandchildren, Christopher, Tyler, and Robin Gloss. Services will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home with Pastor C. David Morgan officiating. Interment in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday one hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Lucille's memory may be made to either Calvary Presbyterian Church, The Canton Christian Home Foundation, or Aultman Hospice.
