Luca S. Baxter

Age 37, of North Canton, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013, in the Cleveland Clinic.  He was born in Canton, a son of Gerald E. and Maria (Carbone) Baxter, of Perry Township, and was a life resident of this area.  Luca was a 1994 graduate of Perry High School, and was employed as a machinist in the family business, Jebco Machine.  From T-Ball to high school his passion was baseball, and his senior year he was honored by being named to the First Team All-Ohio Baseball Team.  Luca still holds records at Perry High School including highest batting average.  He also was an excellent bowler, and had seven 300 games, the first two of which were in high school.  At the age of eight, he bowled 211, the highest for a bantam bowler in Ohio that year.  Golf also was one of his passions, and he started to really enjoy playing in a league.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Baxter.  Surviving besides his parents is his wife and best friend, Kelly, and he was an amazing father to his daughters, Sofia Maria and Luca Rosa; also survived by his grandmother "Nona", Rosa Carbone, of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Gerald A. and Misty Baxter, of Canton, and Michael and Kimberly Dennis, of Columbus, OH; several nieces and nephews; his in-laws, Marilyn and Glenn Heiller, of Louisville; loving aunts, uncles, and cousins across the United States; and he will be sadly missed by his black lab, Rufus.  A Celebration of his life will be held Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, at Brookside Country Club, and the family would like all who knew Luca please join them at a gathering from 6-9 p.m. The Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.  Condolences may be sent to: www.gordonfuneralhomes.com
