Lois D. Spencer     1928-2016

Age 88, of Canton, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2016.  She was born in Pittsburgh, PA, a daughter of the late Russell Porter and Lillian (Leasure) Porter Curtiss, and had been a Canton resident since 1967.  Lois was a 1946 graduate of Youngstown South High School, a 1950 graduate of Kent State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education, and received a Masters Degree in Library Science in 1972 also from KSU.  She had taught at Glenwood High School for a short time, and then became Executive Librarian for the Hoover Co.  Her last employment was at Rodman Public Library in Alliance for two years.  Lois was a member of the Canton Baptist Temple.  She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Rosemary and Rick Cartwright, of Carmel, IL; two sons, John Spencer, of Spokane, WA and Timothy Spencer, of Canton; five grandchildren, Nancy (Jason) Harris, Janna (Joe) Waldher, Jessica Spencer, Katrina Spencer, and Jennifer Spencer, and eight great-grandchildren.  A private service will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home with Rev. Jeffrey L. Shultz officiating.  Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Bedford Heights.  There are no calling Hours.  Condolences may be sent to: www.gordonfuneralhomes.com
