Larry E. DePasquale
Age 65, of Canton, passed away Wed., August 20, 2014, in Mercy Medical Center. He was born in Wheeling, WV, a son of the late Simone and Caterina (Lecce) DePasquale, was raised in Martins Ferry, OH, and resided in the Canton area 16 years. Larry was a 1967 graduate of St. John's Central High School in Bellaire, and a 1971 graduate of West Liberty College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music, and where he studied with Professor Al DeJaeger. He also received an Accounting Degree from Belmont Technical College. Larry also studied with Marilyn Keiser in North Carolina, a renowned professional organist, and he had been a graduate teaching assistant of music at Converse College in Spartanburg, SC. He was honored to have played at The Vatican in Rome in 1990. Larry enjoyed cooking, watching movies and photography. He was a Manager, Product Design Engineering for CourtView Justice Solutions for 16 years, retiring in Jan. of 2014. Previously he worked for the Belmont County Juvenile Court for 13 years, where he was a Deputy Clerk. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Canton and the American Guild of Organists. Larry's passion was music, and he had been the organist at Calvary Presbyterian Church in Canton for seven years, and prior to that had been organist for St. Mary's Catholic Church in Martins Ferry. He was preceded in death by a brother, Simone DePasquale, Jr., and is survived by a sister, Vita (Joe) Baran, and a brother, Carmelo "Fred" (Kathy) DePasquale, all of St. Clairsville, OH, and a sister-in-law, Gloria DePasquale, of Ft. Myers, FL. Everyone is invited to attend a celebration of Larry's life at a Memorial Service which will be held Sat., August 30, 2014, at 11 a.m. in Calvary Presbyterian Church in Canton with Rev. Sue Ann Schmidt and Rev. C. David Morgan officiating. The family will receive friends during a luncheon in the church Fellowship Hall immediately following the service. The following Sat., Sept. 6, 2014, a Memorial Mass will be held in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Martins Ferry at 11 a.m. with Father Thomas Marut as Celebrant. The family will receive friends in the church hall immediately following the Mass. Inurnment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Wheeling, WV. Contributions in Larry's memory may be made to Calvary Presbyterian Church, 1525 Shorb Ave. NW, Canton, OH 44702, or to St. Mary's Catholic Church or School, 20 North 4th St., Martins Ferry, OH 43935.
