Kari Johansen Ley
Age 69, of Mineral City, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on the 4th of August 2012, after a brave battle with cancer. Kari was born on March 17, 1943, in Oslo, Norway. She moved to Mineral City, Ohio with her husband and 4 children in 1978. Although Kari loved Norway, her heart belonged to her family, friends, and animals in Mineral City. She dedicated her life to her husband of 50 years, children, and grandchildren. She loved animals and would never turn away stray or abused animals. Kari loved socializing and had many friends. Her wonderful laugh would light up a room. There was no limit to the love she gave to all around her. Kari will be greatly missed. Survived by her husband, Paul Ley; one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Bob Sponaugle, of Mineral City; three sons, Benney Ley and Melissa Spence, of East Granby, CT, Hans-Petter Ley and Terry Dalessandro, of Wooster, and Timothy Ley and Cathy Oryszak, of Mineral City; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Per and Liv Johansen, and Lasse and Anne-Karine Johansen, all of Oslo, Norway; and two nieces and one nephew. According to her wishes, a private graveside service will be held in German Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Memories and condolences may be shared at the funeral home website. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Community Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 716 Commercial Ave. S. W. New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663, or to the animal welfare charity of your choice.
