IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Judith
Hart
March 31, 1941 – February 22, 2026
Judith Lynn "Judy" Hart,
of Massillon passed away peacefully on February 22, 2026. Judy was born on March 31, 1941, in Canton, Ohio, to the late Nelson Hawk and Ruth (Bischoff) Hawk. She was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in downtown Canton and later attended Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Canton, Calvary Lutheran Church in Ruskin, Florida, and St. Jacob Lutheran Church in Massillon. Judy's strong faith was an important constant throughout her life. She graduated from Lehman High School and attended Ohio State University. Judy worked at Stern & Mann before becoming a bank teller for Citizens Savings & Loan where she won numerous awards for her friendly service.
Judy loved to travel and spent many happy hours at the beach, looking for shells. As much as she relished travel, she thoroughly enjoyed living in this area. A summer highlight was watching fireworks at the McKinley Monument for the 4th of July. She delighted in the Hall of Fame Balloon Fest and the Stark and Wayne County Fairs. Judy made the most of our seasons by planting flowers and maintaining a vegetable garden, which she used for abundant home canning.
Whether on the road or at home, Judy prioritized her family. Some of her happiest evenings were spent playing cards with the Pelicans, of which she was a founding member along with her mom, aunt, sister, and cousin. Having her sons and their families around the table with her and her husband for a meal brought Judy much joy.
In addition to her parents, Judy's son, Nelson, and brother, David, preceded her in death. Judy is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Junior Lewis; sons Brad (Vickie) and Lauren (Lisa); sister, Carole; grandchildren Patrick, Mitch, and Tricia; and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be Thursday, February 26, at St. Jacob Lutheran Church in Massillon with visitation at 10:00 a.m., the service at 11:00 a.m., and lunch to follow.
The family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Aultman Woodlawn Compassionate Care Center for the excellent care they provided. In lieu of flowers, donations in Judy's memory may be made to the Stark County Humane Society or St. Jacob Lutheran Church in Massillon.
