Age 89, of North Canton, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2022.  She was born August 4, 1932 in Granville, OH, a daughter of the late John and Irene (Henderson) Spellman, and had been a Canton resident 47 years.  Joyce was a 1948 graduate of Newark High School.  She worked at Sears in Chapel Hill in unit control, and later for the Stark County Health Dept. in the WIC Program.  Joyce was a member of Church of The Lakes, United Methodist, the Hoover Historical Society, Hillfield Garden Club, HERB Society, Violet Society, and the Presidential Park Garden Club in Cuyahoga Falls.  She enjoyed growing violets and orchids in her basement and had an elaborate flower display outside her home.

In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by a son, Jeff Schutt.  She is survived by her husband, Joseph L. Schutt, with whom she celebrated their 70th Wedding Anniversary on May 20th, one daughter, Jennifer "Jill" (Ken) Mathews, daughter-in-law, Debbie Schutt, two grandchildren, Kelsey Schutt and Heather (Doug) Mathews-Mayfield, one sister, Lois (Cecil) Rhodes, and two nieces, Pam Dorian and Diane (Jeff) Stein.

A private Memorial Service will be held at Church of The Lakes with Pastor Bryan George officiating.  There is no visitation.  Inurnment will be in the Columbarium at Church of The Lakes.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Joyce's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.  Condolences may be sent to: www.gordonfuneralhomes.com
