Joyce “Joy” Lorraine Hamilton,

Age 84, of Irmo, SC, entered the presence of her Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wed., Oct. 21, 2026. She was a devout Christian who loved Jesus with all her heart and strived to be like Him in showing love and kindness to others. In return, she was highly respected by virtually all who knew her. She was especially devoted to her family and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Joyce was born Apr. 3, 1942, in Canton, OH, a daughter of the late David and Alice (Masters) Miller. She was a 1960 graduate of Glenwood High School, a 1964 graduate of Malone College, and a 1968 graduate of Roosevelt University in Chicago. She retired in 2003 after more than thirty years of teaching elementary school in OH, IL, and SC. She was a member of Riverland Hills Baptist Church in Irmo, Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, and taught various Bible study groups for women over her lifetime.

Survived by her husband of sixty-three years, Rev. Dr. Donald Hamilton, one daughter, Christine (Peter) Mayes of Sugar Land, TX, and one son, Charles (Cheri) Hamilton of Summerville, SC. Also survived by four grandchildren: Elizabeth “Libby” Hamilton, Elodie Hamilton, Benjamin Hamilton, and Casey (Kiersten) Mayes. Joyce was preceded in death by her sister, Jacqueline James. Also survived by many dear family members.

Services will be held Thur., Oct. 29, at 12 noon in Faith Community Church in Canton. Interment in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call one hour before the service, from 11am-12pm in the church. A memorial service will also be held at a later date in Irmo. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Sebring Holiness Campmeeting at PO Box 97, Sebring, OH, 44672.
