JOY L. MILLS, JR., Age 86, of East Sparta, passed away in his residence Wed., Feb. 15th. Born in Canton, a son of the late Joy and Erma Neuman Mills, Sr., he had been an East Sparta resident since 1959. Joy was a 1943 graduate of Timken Vocational High School, served with the U.S. Army during WWII and retired from Ohio Bell where he was a troubleshooter. He was a member of the A.T. & T. Pioneers, ran Mills Recording Studio from the early 60s to the mid-70s and was an avid photographer and gardener. Survived by his wife, Mary Mills, with whom he would have celebrated their 55th Wedding Anniversary on Apr. 12th; one son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Susan Mills, of Strasburg; one sister, Doris Mohler, of Hartville; two grandchildren, Melissa and Jonathan Mills; and numerous nieces and nephews. Following burial in Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, a memorial service will be conducted Fri. at 11 a.m. in East Sparta Christian Church with Pastor Andrew Bailey officiating.
