Joseph Gingerich 1921 - 2017
Age 95, of Canton, passed away Monday, Jan.9, 2017. He was born in Bunker Hill, (Holmes County) OH, a son of the late Joseph and Mattie (Miller) Gingerich, and had been a Canton resident 50 years. Joe was a retired barber, having worked with Ray Unkefer at the Colonial Square Barber Shop. Joe was a member of Canton First Church of The Nazarene, which he served as Treasurer for 36 years and as a Sunday school teacher. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Charlene Gingerich, on July 31, 1995, and nine brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife, Nedra M. Gingerich; one daughter, Penny Wright and Randy Moore, of Massillon; two granddaughters and four great-grandchildren, Melissa and Kevin Prusser, and Venessa and Donald French, and children, Jessa, Estrella, Hallee, and Donnie III. Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in Canton First Church of The Nazarene with Pastor Dan Hanson officiating. Interment will be in North Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday 6-8 p.m. at the Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home and Friday at the church 10-11 a.m. before the service. Condolences may be sent to: gordonfuneralhomes.com
