Joseph G. Devine

Age 85, of East Sparta, passed away Sunday April 29, 2018.  He was born April 8, 1933 in East Sparta, a son of the late Martin and Orlena (Herstine) Devine, and was a life resident. Joe was a 1951 graduate of East Sparta High School.  He retired in 1995 from The Timken Co., after 42 ½ years service, where he was a lineman and machine instructor.  He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Morges.  Joe served with the U. S. Army 82nd Airborne during the Korean Conflict.  Besides his parents, Joe was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.  He is survived by his wife, Mary L. Devine, with whom he celebrated their 64th Wedding Anniversary on Sept. 11th;  three daughters and one son, Cheryl (Matthew) Klima, Diane Benze (Ted Benze, deceased), Karen Devine (Sergio Ruzzier), and David Devine; four grandsons and a granddaughter, Chris (Brittany) Benze, Jon Benze, Matt Klima, Tim Klima, and Viola Ruzzier; one brother, Duane (Alice) Devine.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Morges with Fr. Anthony Batt as Celebrant.  Friends may call Thursday 6-8 p.m. at the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia.  Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Sandyville.  Condolences may be sent to: www.gordonfuneralhomes.com
