OBITUARY FOR TUESDAY REPOSITORY WITH PICTURE:
John D. Swiney
Age 72, of Waynesburg, passed away Sunday, April 16, 2017. He was born Dec. 8, 1944 in Clay City, IL, a son of the late John I. and Audrey (Simmons) Swiney, and had been a Waynesburg resident since 1976. John was a 1964 graduate of New Harmony, IN High School. He was the retired owner/operator of American Water Well Drilling. He was a member of Caldwell Lodge #330, F. & A.M., the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Canton and a life member of the D.A.V. John served twelve years in the U. S. Air Force, and during the Viet Nam War. Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by two sisters, Becky Spencer-Shutz and infant Clara Ann Swiney, a granddaughter, Anissa Jane Budd, and a sister-in-law, Sidonna Southard. John was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be sorely missed by all his family and his community. John is survived by his wife, Lucy A. (Shaw) Swiney, with whom he celebrated their 51st Wedding Anniversary on Sept. 11, 2016; two daughters, Redonna (Charles) Seifer, and Valarie (Terry) Burke; one son Jason (Tina) Swiney; three grandchildren, Samantha and Chad Budd, and Brenna Swiney; one sister, Christine (Bruce) Redman; and a sister-in-law, Suenell (Buzz) Watts. Services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. in the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia with Pastor Matt Smith officiating. Friends may call Wed. 5-8 p.m. A Masonic Service will be held at 4:45 p.m. Wed. in the funeral home. Interment with Full Military Honors will be held MONDAY at 10:30 a.m. in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. John never left any person without water, it didn't matter the time of day, he never let anyone down.
