John P. Nelisher
Age 87, of Malvern, passed away Monday morning in his home. He was born in Canton, a son of the late John and Verna Poharesky Nelisher, and was a life resident until July of 2005 when he moved to Malvern. John was a 1941 graduate of Timken Vocational High School. He retired in 1984 from Union Metal Mfg. Co., after 42 years service, where he was a tool & die maker. John and his wife had started the Stark County Chapter of MADD. He was a member of the Greater Beneficial Union. Preceded in death by a daughter, Dora Ploch, on March 16, 1982, a brother, Pete Nelisher, and a daughter-in-law, Terri Nellisher. Survived by his wife, Josephine Nelisher, with whom he celebrated their 40th Wedding Anniversary on April 16, 2010; five daughters and sons-in-law, Karen Gonda, of Massillon, Joyce and Greg Triner, of Canton, Diana and Michael McNutt, of Malvern, Sharon Kozee, of Greentown, and Lora and Charles Parker, of East Canton; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ronald Nelisher, of Akron, and Charles and Judy Kozee, of Canton; 16 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Services will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home with Pastor Randy L. Newcomer officiating. Interment in Beech Mennonite Cemetery. Friends may call Wed. 6-8 p.m. and Thursday 10-11 a.m. before the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions in John's memory may be made to the Alliance Visiting Nurses Association and Hospice, 885 S. Sawburg Rd., Suite 106, Alliance, OH 44601.
