John C. Hankinson
Age 90, of Mineral City, passed away Friday evening in Hennis Care Centre in Bolivar. He was born in Zanesville, OH, a son of the late Walter and Mary (Murphy) Hankinson, and was a Mineral City resident since 1936. John retired in 1984 from R.G. Smith Co. where he was a crane operator. He was a member of Mineral City United Methodist Church, Caldwell Lodge #330, F. & A.M. in Bolivar, the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Canton, and Carr-Bailey American Legion Post #519 in Mineral City. John served in the U.S. Army during World War II and received a Purple Heart. Preceded in death by a brother, Lee Hankinson. Survived by his son, John W. Hankinson, a sister, Betty McKinney, of Mineral City, two nieces and one nephew. A Celebration of John's life will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in Mineral City United Methodist Church with Rev. Bob Smith officiating. A Memorial Service with Military Honors in Greenlawn Cemetery in Sandyville will be held at a later date. Friends may call one hour before the Celebration on Thursday. Masonic Services will be held just prior to the Celebration.
