JOHN E. "SONNY" DUMMERMUTH,
Age 82, of East Sparta, passed away in his granddaughter Joy's home Sun. evening. Born Mar. 11, 1928, a son of the late Ralph and Viola Maus Dummermuth, he had been a Mineral City resident from 1948-2001 and then lived in New Philadelphia. Sonny retired in 2001 from Shanafelt Manufacturing in Canton after 34 years of service as a Master Mechanic. Previously, from 1946-1967, he worked at the U.S. Ceramic Tile Co. in maintenance. While there, he was a founding member of the Ceramic Federal Credit Union, which he had served as President and a member of the Board of Directors. Preceded in death by his first wife, Evelyn, on Mar. 11, 1997. Survived by his wife, Angela Jean Dummermuth; two daughters and one son-in-law, Pam and Eddie Koch, of Beach City, and Dianne Hay, of Magnolia, and a special granddaughter, whom Sonny and Evelyn raised as a daughter, and her husband, Joy and Joel Russell, of East Sparta, with whom he resided; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Dorothy Locker, and Bette and Ron Kohl, all of New Philadelphia, and Faye Mast, of Sugarcreek; one brother and sister-in-law, Dean and Wilma Lee Dummermuth, of Dover; five grandchildren, John Koch, Kelli Koch, Tara Stiner, Jill Hay, and Jamee Range; six great grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be conducted Wed. at 12 Noon in German Cemetery in Mineral City with Deacon Lyn Houze officiating. Friends may call Tues. from 4-7 p.m. in the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia.
