John R. Carrick,

age 65, of Mineral City, passed away Wed., Sept. 2, 2026. He leaves behind his mother, Lora Carrick; three sisters, Judy (Tom) Browning, Nancy (Dan) Trbovich, and Debra (Steve) Geckler; one niece, Alivia Trbovich; two nephews, Austin (Rachel) Trbovich and Logan (Maddy) Trbovich; two great nieces, Zoey and Noelle; three great nephews, Oscar, Blake and Oliver; one uncle, Walter Furbee; one aunt, Verla Bailey; adopted brothers and close cousins, Robert Carrick and Dwight Bailey; special friends, the Snyders, Hudnalls, Keenens, Slates, Beattys, Boyds, Lewis, Jones, Ladrachs, Allens, many friends in West Virginia, Mike Leyda, Debra Canfield, Lynn Norton, Gary McDade and Nedra Johnston. He was preceded in death by his father, John Carrick, and his niece Aliza Geckler.

John was born June 17, 1961 in Steubenville and lived in Carrollton and Mineral City. He attended Tusky Valley High School and Buckeye Career Center. Following graduation he worked for Sparta Mosaics, Ehlers and Requippco and then owned and operated a hydraulics and hose shop.

John was a member of the Army-Navy Club in Bolivar and New Philadelphia, Hey Jacks, Ruritans, and Sandy Valley Eagles #3228. He enjoyed hunting fishing, stock car racing and go cart racing. But most of all he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Services will be held Thur. at 7pm in Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home. Friends may call two hours before the service, from 5-7pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions in John’s name may be made to the Mineral City or Somerdale Fire Departments. Condolences may be left at: www.gordonfuneralhomes.com.
