John W. "Jack" Burns, Sr.
Age 74, of East Sparta, passed away Sat., Oct. 1, 2011, in Aultman Hospital after an extended illness. He was born in Steubenville, OH, a son of the late John W. and Laura Tucker Burns, and had been an East Sparta resident 55 years. Jack retired in Sept. of 2002 from the Timken Co., after 43 years service, where he was a diesel crane operator. He was a member of East Sparta Christian Church, Golden Lodge #1123 United Steelworkers of America AFL-CIO, and Sandy Valley Eagles. Preceded in death by a nephew, Frank Edwards, Jr. Survived by his wife, Joanne B. Burns, with whom he celebrated their 55th Wedding Anniversary on June 22nd; one daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Patrick Curren, of Springboro, OH; two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Bertha Burns, Jr., and Randy and Renea Burns, all of East Sparta; two sisters, Nancy Edwards, of Canton, and Frankie Ann "Rose" Auvil, of Mesa, AZ; nine granddaughters, five great-granddaughters, and one great-grandson. Services will be held Wed. at 2 p.m. in the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia with Minister William Moody officiating. Interment in Greenlawn Cemetery in Sandyville. Friends may call Tuesday 6-8 p.m. The family wishes to express their appreciation to Dr. Louis Shaheen for the wonderful care he gave to John for many years.
