Joe S. Shortt, Sr.
Age 72, of Waynesburg, passed away Sat. afternoon in Mercy Medical Center. He was born in Red Ash, VA, a son of the late Frank and Ida Breedlove Shortt, Sr., and had been a Waynesburg resident since 1965. Joe retired in 1981 from Ford Motor Co. in Canton, after 17 years service, where he was an upset operator. He was a member of Sandy
Valley Church of God and UAW Local #542. Joe enjoyed hunting and fishing. Preceded in death by five brothers, Gene, Jack, Frank, Jr., Robert, and Richard Shortt. Survived by his wife, Anna L. Shortt, with whom he celebrated their 56th Wedding Anniversary on August 26th; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Joe and Tammy Shortt, Jr., of Waco, Gene and Vanessa Shortt, of Lake Mohawk, twins Terry Shortt and Jerry and Linda Shortt, all of Waynesburg; two sisters, Betty Butcher, of Tazwell, VA, and Nancy Shortt,
of Morganton, NC; one brother, James Shortt, of Honaker, VA; two sisters-in-law, Patricia Shortt, of Richlands, VA, and Peggy Shortt, of Arkansas; eight grandchildren, Troy, Jessica, Casey, Josh, Brandon, Roxanne, and Jamie Shortt, and Tina Westrich and her husband, Anthony. Services will be conducted Wed. at 11 a.m. in the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia with Rev. Clifford Hughes officiating. Interment in Sandy Valley Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday 6-8 p.m. and Wed. 10-11 a.m. before the service.
