Joanne David Age 88, a resident of the House of Loreto, passed away there Sunday evening. She was born in Goriano Valli, Italy, a daughter of the late Vincenzo and Regina Capestraini Pedone, and had been a Canton resident since 1956. Joanne was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church and the Altar & Rosary Society of the church. Preceded in death by her husband, Frank David, on Nov. 10, 1982, a daughter, Catherine David, on Jan. 10, 1962, two sisters and one brother, Prosperina Cercarelli, Giulia DiGiorgio, and Luigi Pedone. Survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Anne Gichevski, of Massillon, and Debra and John Hornyak, of Canton; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, Daniel and Cathy Gichevski, Christie Gichevski Leapline and her husband, Aaron, and their daughters, Hannan and Grace, Emily and Genevieve Hornyak; four brothers and a sister-in-law, Alessandra Pedone, of Rome, Italy, Domenico and Maria Pedone, of Goriano Valli, Italy, Giuseppe and Pasquale Pedone, both of Caracas, Venezuela. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church with Fr. William Kraynak as Celebrant. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call Wed. 6-8 p.m. at the Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home. Joanne's life was guided by her devotion to her Catholic faith and the love of her family. Her life was graciously dedicated to raising her children and taking care of her home. She was humbly generous and selfless in devoting her time and efforts to numerous Catholic charities and other charitable organizations.
