Obituary

Jerry L. Shilling

Jerry L. Shilling passed away on Sunday., Dec. 15, 2024. He was born on April 20, 1955, in Canton, OH, a son of the late Arthur and Judyth Shilling. He is survived by his twin sister, Terri Sherman, and brother-in-law Art Sherman.

Jerry was a 1973 graduate of Sandy Valley High School where he played football, basketball, and baseball. He still holds the record for the longest punt, at 72 yards. He was active in many school activities and became an Eagle Scout.

Jerry rose in the ranks of SARTA, ultimately serving as the Operations Manager for many years. He served as a board member of the Quad Ambulance District and was a long-time volunteer for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement weekend.

Jerry was certainly one of the wittiest and funniest guys. He had many, many friends, and was so loved. Jerry wanted to make sure to thank the Carroll Healthcare Facility for the great care they provided for him. Per Jerry's wishes, there will be no service. There will be a Celebration of Life that will be announced and held at a later date.  Condolences may be left at: www.gordonfuneralhomes.com.
