Jerry L. DePalmo

Age 78, of Waynesburg, passed away Thursday, April 10, 2014, in Aultman Compassionate Care Center.  He was born in Malvern, a son of Mary (Hester) DePalmo of Canton, and the late Jerry DePalmo, and was Waynesburg resident all his life.  Jerry was a 1954 graduate of Waynesburg High School where he played basketball.  He was retired from Roofers Local #88 in Canton, but was still working for Construction Resourses, Inc.  He also had owned B & O Roofing, Southtown Carwash, and Chic-of-Ohio Liquid Vinyl.  Jerry was a member of St. James Catholic Church, and was an avid golfer and pool player.  Surviving besides his mother is his wife, Madeline Y. (Boggs) DePalmo, with whom he celebrated their 56th Wedding Anniversary on Oct. 26, 2013; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael and Ginny DePalmo and Jerry DePalmo, all of Waynesburg; two sisters, Peggy DePalmo, of Broadview Heights, OH, and Mickey DePalmo, of Canton; a special cousin, Frances Sharp, of Akron; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, Nicholas (Danni) DePalmo, Cierra DePalmo, and Justin (Candys) Rock and their daughters, Jasmine and Chelsea.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wed. at 11 a.m. in St. James Catholic Church with Fr. Joseph Zamary as Celebrant.  Interment in Sandy Valley Cemetery.  There will be no calling hours.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jerry's memory may be made to Aultman Compassionate Care, 2810 Woodlawn Ave. NW, Canton, OH  44708.  The family would like to express their appreciation to the doctors and staff of Compassionate Care for the wonderful care and love they gave to him.  Condolences may be sent to: www.gordonfuneralhomes.com
