Jeanna Maxine McKown,
76, of Waynesburg, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on October 9, 2023. Jeanna was born on October 22, 1946, in Newton WV, the daughter of Leslie Epson and Mildred Lucille Chapman. She was a 1964 graduate of Spencer High School and married Arthur Blake McKown, on August 29th, of the same year. After moving to Waynesburg, OH in 1981, Jeanna served as business administrator and bookkeeper for the family's business, BM Trucking. She went on to work 15 years at Rite Aid in Waynesburg and retired from Consumers National Bank in 2011. Jeanna will be remembered as a wonderful wife, homemaker, mother, sister and friend who always took care of everyone around her.
Along with her parents, Jeanna was preceded in death by her first husband Blake, and 2 brothers, Ira Lee and Leroy Junior Chapman. She will also get to celebrate with her very close extended family, including brothers-in-law Forrest Gene and Travis "Hib" McKown.
Jeanna leaves behind her husband and best friend of 18 years, David G. Charles. The two were married, while vacationing, on May 15, 2015, on the beach in Hawaii. She is survived by two brothers, Darius (Beverly) Chapman of Stockport, OH and Virgil (Emily) Chapman of Bellevue, OH. Jeanna is grieved by her son, Jeff (Lisa) McKown of Waynesburg, daughter, Kelly (Geoff) Liebler of Massillon, and David's children, Kelli (Brandon) Henning of Charlottesville, VA and Kyle (Malora) Charles of Leesburg, VA. Her legacy will live on in her grandchildren, Taylor (Matt) Rothel, Rayelle (Mike) Paulson, Emma (Fred) Clay, along with 5 great grandchildren.
A private interment of ashes and graveside service will take place on Saturday October 21st at 1pm at Laurel Point Cemetery in Newton WV. Family in the area are welcome to attend.
A Celebration of Life Open House will be held on Saturday October 28th from 1pm-4pm, at Foltz Community Center, 224 Wood St. N., East Canton OH 44730
