OBITUARY FOR WEDNESDAY REPOSITORY & TIMES REPORTER:
Jay E. Geckler
Age 79, of Magnolia, passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2011, in his home surrounded by his loving family. Jay was born in Magnolia, a son of the late Elson and Zua Evans Geckler, and was a life resident. He retired in 1996 from the U. S. Ceramic Tile Co. in East Sparta and prior to that he worked at the Sparta Ceramic Tile Co., with a total of over 40 years service, where he was a die changer and maintenance worker. Jay enjoyed working on racecars and tractors and working with special friends, Dan Larson and Al Witts, when the Magnolia Drag Strip first opened. Preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Fritchley and a granddaughter, Aliza Mae Geckler. Survived by his wife, MaryLou Geckler, with whom he celebrated their 55th Wedding Anniversary on April 28th; one daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Mike Visnick, of Carrollton; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Steve and Debbie Geckler, and Stan Geckler, all of Sandyville; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, Josh and Anna Geckler, and their children, Michael and Aleah, Michelle and Jason Jones and their children, Cameron and Chase, Missy Visnick and her friend, Randy Shaffer, and her son, Edison Dauski; several nieces and nephews. Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia with Rev. Peggy Garner officiating. Interment in Magnolia Cemetery.
