Janice L. Norris Age 86, a resident of the Canton Christian Home, passed away there Sunday evening, Dec. 25, 2011. She was born in East Sparta, a daughter of the late Howard and Cora (Morris) Stevens, and was a life resident of the Sandy Valley area. Janice was a 1944 graduate of East Sparta High School. She retired in 1996 from Doctors Hospital, after 35 years service, where she was a billing clerk. Janice was a member of East Sparta Christian Church and The Circle of the church, the Independent Order of Forresters, and the Willing Workers of Sandyville United Methodist Church. Preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Norris, on May 23, 1980, and a brother, William Stevens, in 1938. Survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Dr. David Switter, of Nashville, TN, and Beth and Larry Szczepaniak, of Massillon; one son and daughter-in-law, John and Phyllis Norris, of Magnolia; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Services will be held on Thursday at 1 p.m. in the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia with Ron Iwanusa, Chaplain of the Canton Christian Home, officiating. Interment in Greenlawn Cemetery in Sandyville. Friends may call two hours before the service on Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Janice's memory may be made to the Second Floor Assisted Living of Canton Christian Home.
