Janice E. Lappin

Age 93, of Massillon, passed Monday, Oct. 24, 2022.  She was born Sept. 3, 1929 in Canton, a daughter of the late Homer and Charlene (Wallick) Leidtke, and was a life resident.  Janice was a 1947 graduate of Lehman High School, received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from the University of Akron, and her Master's Degree in Education from Kent State University.  She retired from Canton City Schools after teaching first and second grades over 30 years at Fairmont Elementary School.  Janice was active ahead of her time in raising her children and completing her Master's Degree at the same time.  She was a devoted member of First Christian Church over 60 years, sharing her love of God with her family and others, mentoring her students, children and grandchildren.  Janice enjoyed traveling, water aerobics, her card club for years, and the weekly family nights playing cards.  Her family will forever be grateful for her leadership, advice, and guidance.

In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Charles H. Lappin, on Feb. 26, 2018, a son and daughter, Charles A. Lappin and Vickie (Lappin) Kauffman.  She is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Mark) Jahn; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, Tracy (Stephen) Henry, and their children, Alexander and Elizabeth, Gwen (Nestor) Castillo, Christina Miller and Chad Switzer, and children, Makenzie and Lucas, Tiffany Lappin and Alan Blankenship, and her children, Brandy and Brayden, and Jacob (Lappin) Criss; two brothers, Alan Leidtke and Byron (Leila) Leidtke, and nieces and nephews.
